About

With a sound that blends modern country with the unapologetic grit of rock & roll, Charlie Reece is redefining what it means to be a country artist. His songs, rich with autobiographical storytelling, reflect both the beauty and the heartbreak of a life well-lived—because he's lived through it all.

Raised in a small town in rural Alabama, Reece grew up in a working-class home where music became his refuge. His mother, a single parent working multiple jobs to make ends meet, instilled in him the values of perseverance and passion. Left alone for long hours, Charlie found companionship in the voices on the radio—Garth Brooks, George Strait, Guns N’ Roses, and Mötley Crüe—artists who would shape his distinct blend of country storytelling and rock energy.

At just 16, Reece’s world was upended when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. In the face of adversity, the two bonded over music, singing along to their favorite songs and finding solace in melody and lyrics. When she passed, Reece was forced to set aside his musical dreams to focus on survival, eventually building a successful career in business. But no matter how much he achieved, something was missing. His heart belonged to music.

Determined to reclaim his first love, Reece began writing again, pouring his life experiences into songs that speak to the struggles, triumphs, and dreams of everyday people. Along the way, he launched the X5 Podcast, a platform that has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows in music and entertainment. Featuring candid conversations with musicians, comedians, and public figures, the podcast now boasts over a million monthly viewers and has been featured in Rolling Stone, TMZ, Entertainment Weekly, ET, Loudwire, and NME.

In 2024, Reece took his passion to the next level, stepping into the studio to record his self-titled debut album, produced by Jacob Bunton (Mick Mars, Billy Idol, Akon). The album showcases Reece’s ability to blend high-energy anthems with heartfelt ballads, featuring standout tracks like:

  • “Beer Don’t Lie” – A hard-hitting, anthem about how the truth always comes out—especially after a few cold ones. (from the chorus: “I hate to say it ain’t workin’, we gave this thing one helluva try, hell nah, goodbye, the truth ain’t sober but the beer don’t lie”).“It’s about how people will lie to your face when they’re sober, but after a few drinks, the truth comes pouring out,” Reece explains. “Beer don’t lie, and neither do the stories people tell when they’ve had a couple.”
  • “Givin’ Up On Givin’ A Damn” – A rebellious, foot-stomping track about high school memories and living life on your own terms. “This is for the people who’ve spent too much time caring about what everyone thinks,” says Reece. “At some point, you just have to throw your hands up and do your own thing.”
  • “Ain’t Nothin’ Small About This Little Town” – A tribute to small-town life, talking about the big personalities, big stories, and big dreams that thrive in the tight-knit communities of America. “Where I’m from, everybody knows everybody, and the stories get bigger every time they’re told. This song is about how small-town life is anything but small.”
  • “Ride” – A song about taking chances, living in the moment, and being blindsided by a partner that you thought was your ride or die. “Life’s about the ride, whether you’re on the ride or taken for one,” Reece shares. “This one’s for anyone who’s ever taken a leap of faith and held on tight. Life is full of ups and downs, but you have to keep getting back on the ride”
  • “Cross My Heart” – A song about betrayal and ultimately getting revenge “This song is about when being a good person and doing the right thing doesn’t always feel like it works out for you. We all reach a breaking point, the story in this song is just more pronounced.”
  • “First Date” – A nostalgic and playful song that captures the excitement, nerves, and butterflies of falling for someone new. “We’ve all been there—that first date where everything is brand new, and you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. This is all about the magic of those first moments turning into an undeniable bond where you realize you never want to be without this person.”

The first single, “Somewhere They’ll Never Know”, is the ultimate summertime anthem, capturing the excitement of kicking back with friends and escaping the grind of the workweek. The song tells the relatable story of a working-class couple who put in long hours but live for the weekend—finding their own little getaway where they can be free. With feel-good melodies and vivid storytelling, the track is destined to be a staple for summer playlists everywhere.

“This song is about finding your own space to unwind, to escape, and to just enjoy life,” says Reece. “We all work hard, but the best part of the week is when we can let loose and make memories with the people we love.”

Adding to the excitement, Reece recently filmed the official music video for “Somewhere They’ll Never Know”, which features a special cameo from Steve-O of MTV’s Jackass series. The video promises to be a visually captivating accompaniment to the heartfelt track.

Charlie Reece’s band, The Platinum Dolls, features an all-star lineup of seasoned musicians, including former Fuel lead vocalist Brett Scallions on guitar and vocals, Jacob Bunton (Lynam, Adler, Mick Mars) on lead guitar and vocals, David Lynam (Lynam) on drums, Mark Dzier (Lynam, Rock Of Ages) on bass, and Bert Wallace on guitar.

Now, with his highly anticipated debut single and album on the horizon, Charlie Reece is ready to make his mark on country music. Authentic, unfiltered, and unapologetically himself, he’s not just singing country music—he’s living it.
